Assault

Stephen James Kellogg, 38, of Fox, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor fourth-degree weapons misconduct. According to court documents, a man was using a snowblower at an Alpine Court residence on April 3 when Kellogg reportedly started “going ballistic” and started driving his four-wheeler down the driveway. Kellogg reportedly made a fist and the man thought Kellogg was going to punch him. He restrained Kellogg and then Kellogg ran inside. The man got into his car and drove away. When Alaska State Troopers arrived at the house, Kellogg was on a balcony holding a rife. He threw the rifle off balcony and went inside. Kellogg appeared intoxicated while speaking with troopers.

Change of plea

Matthew Dewitt Dopson, 36, pleaded guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor failure to stop at the direction of a peace officer for a sentence of 365 days with 365 suspended, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault for 365 days with 185 suspended, misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal mischief for 365 days with 365 days suspended, and misdemeanor violating bail conditions for a conviction of record. The state dismissed charges of misdemeanor improper use of registration, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault and misdemeanor first-degree criminal mischief. Superior Court Judge Kirk Schwalm accepted the plea agreement.

DUI

Casey Laine Hudson, 27, of North Pole, was charged Thursday with felony driving under the influence. According to court documents, North POle police were patrolling the Richardson Highway when they saw a car driving 64 miles per hour in a 45 mph construction zone with a broken taillight. Hudson reportedly smelled like alcohol and had droopy, glassy eyes. She said that her passenger drank alcohol at the 12 Mile Roadhouse but she did not. She later said that she had drunk two beers. Hudson failed standardized field sobriety tests and had a breath-alcohol content of 0.156.
