Assault
• Don Spear, 39, of Fairbanks, was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor fourth-degree assault. According to court documents, Spear reportedly punched, slapped and strangled a woman at a Tisdell Lane residence around 2 a.m. Tuesday while he appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Alaska State Troopers stopped Spear on Chena Hot Springs Road and he said that the woman punched him when he refused to let her do his laundry.
• Jerry William Hernandez Jr., 30, of Fairbanks, was charged Wednesday with felony third-degree assault, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, three counts of misdemeanor assault when child present and misdemeanor violating bail conditions. According to court documents, a man was sleeping at an Alston Road residence Tuesday night when Hernandez came to the house and banged on his window. Inside the house, Hernandez reportedly swung and lunged at the man. The man hit Hernandez in the groin and Hernandez reportedly punched him at least three times. Hernandez reportedly violated his probation after Fairbanks police found multiple containers of alcohol in his belongings.
Multiple charges
Dewaye Gene Jimmie, 36, was charged with two counts of felony first-degree vehicle theft, two counts of felony first-degree burglary and misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal mischief. According to court documents, a man heard banging outside a Lacey Street apartment and saw one of the former tenants, Jimmie, outside around 3 a.m. The man let Jimmie inside the apartment. Jimmie reportedly started the bath water and made a bed on the floor to sleep. He reportedly took the man’s truck keys out of a table and took the pickup truck with a camper on the bank.
Vehicle theft
Jeri Shavon Johnson, 31, of Fairbanks, was charged Wednesday with felony first-degree vehicle theft. According to court documents, a man was warming up his car for work around 6:30 a.m. on Sandvik Street when Johnson reportedly asked for a ride. The man told her that he could not give her a ride and went inside his house. When he walked back outside, his car was gone. Fairbanks police received a report around 4:45 p.m. that a car ran two red lights, hit a curb and parked at the west Fred Meyer. When police arrived at the store, they saw Johnson walking out of the store and away from police. The man identified Johnson as the woman who asked for a ride that morning and surveillance footage showed Johnson parking the car at Fred Meyer.
