A man was arrested Sunday after allegedly stabbing another man multiple times during a confrontation at a Fairbanks home late Saturday night.
According to a criminal complaint, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at a house in the 200 block of 16th Avenue. The victim told police he went to the home to collect his belongings from the basement. After retrieving his items, he went into the kitchen and placed his bag on the couch.
A man the victim knew only as “Chris” entered the room and sat on the bag, prompting an argument. During the exchange, “Chris” reportedly accused the victim of owing him $200 and began putting on gloves. The victim grabbed his bag, at which point “Chris” pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed him in the neck.
Court documents state that 29-year-old Dylan Oliver Atchak then stabbed the victim in the thigh. The victim ran upstairs, where another man — identified only as “Nos” — allegedly blocked the exit. Atchak then reportedly stabbed the victim multiple times in the back.
A woman called police around 11 p.m. Saturday, reporting that a man had been stabbed in the neck at an address in the 300 block of 16th Avenue. Fairbanks police later determined the stabbing had occurred at a nearby house in the 200 block, after discovering blood on the home’s exterior and inside the kitchen.
The victim was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Atchak turned himself in to Fairbanks police at approximately 5:51 p.m. Sunday and reportedly told officers, “he killed someone last night,” according to the complaint.
Magistrate Judge Spenser Ruppert set Atchak’s bail at $200,000.
