The deadline for submitting municipal election letters to the editor is fast approaching.
As the Oct. 1 election nears, we will print as many election-related letters as possible. The sooner you get your letter in, the better chance it has of printing.
The deadline for submissions for municipal election letters to the editor is 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25. The last day municipal election letters will be printed is Sunday, Sept. 29.
Send letters by email (letters@newsminer.com), by submitting them online at newsminer.com or by mailing them to P.O. Box 70710, Fairbanks, AK 99707. Writers are limited to one letter every seven days, and emailed and online submissions are the preferred method when it comes to getting us your letters. All letters must contain no more than 350 words and include the writer’s full name, mailing address, city of residence and phone number. We reserve the right to edit or reject letters.
Given a rapidly declining public decorum in public spaces regarding politics, we encourage a more supportive tone in letters rather than one that attacks your favored candidate’s opponent. That’s a change that needs to happen on the national level as well, and while small, it’s one we can implement here on our opinion pages as a hopeful starting place for better dialogue and exchanges.
