Gulls of the Chena

Gary Pohl photo/Ester

“On April 11 — it was very snowy early on the day, still winter — we went to the FACT ‘Wizard of Oz’ performance at the Centennial Center for the Arts and when we came out at about 9:45 p.m., there was a lot of noise coming from the Chena. It was a large flock of I believe to be herring gulls that had just landed on this small patch of ice, with many more circling in the air. Later, they were gone.” Thanks, Gary Pohl of Ester, for sending along this shot. You can submit your best photo online at newsminer.com.
