Providence Alaska Medical Center (PAMC) has been certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV, marking the highest level of stroke care certification a hospital can receive.
The certification, awarded on March 6, recognizes PAMC’s ability to deliver advanced stroke care — from diagnosis and treatment to rehabilitation and education. It places PAMC among a select group of hospitals nationwide capable of handling the most complex stroke cases.
“Earning the Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification validates all the hard work our caregivers and physician partners have devoted to ensuring our patients receive the best, most efficient care,” said Sarah Skeel, PAMC’s chief administrative officer.
Previously certified as a Primary Stroke Center, PAMC now leads the state in stroke treatment volume and has expanded its stroke program to include a multidisciplinary team and statewide partnerships, including work with the Alaska Stroke Coalition.
“Achieving certification shows commitment to excellence,” said Kelly Proctor, president of DNV Healthcare USA Inc. “And it helps demonstrate to your community that you are performing at the highest level.”
Comprehensive stroke centers are typically the most advanced facilities in a region, equipped to handle any type of stroke or related complication.
