Pioneers of Alaska Museum at Pioneer Park
This circa-1950s photograph of Second Avenue in downtown Fairbanks was probably taken during a spring winter carnival event. The only buildings still standing today are the Lathrop Building, which was the site of the KFAR Radio station and The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner. The Lacey Street theater building is partially visible on the far right. The Piggly Wiggly grocery store was located on Second Avenue next to Blanchfield Alley, which does not exist today.
